Bio




Chris grew up in Gaithersburg, MD.  He found his love for running while he ran cross country and track for Quince Orchard High School.  There he was coached by Seann Pelkey who guided him to 12th in the State in cross country, and 7th in the State in the 2-mile.  Chris went on to run cross country and track for Ben Thomas along with the help of Mary Jayne Harrelson at Virginia Tech.  Post collegiately, Chris ran for the Georgetown Running Co. racing team from 2009-2010.  Chris then took down his college PR's from the 1 mile to the 10K, and started racing longer distances on the roads.  From 2011 to 2012, Chris raced for =PR=(Potomac River Running).  In 2013, the year it was formed, Chris joined =PR= DC Elite, coached by Roland Rust.  Roland coached Chris from 2014-2016.  In 2015, Chris got selected to be on the nationally recognized Saucony Hurricane Team.  Chris ran as a Saucony sponsored athlete in 2015 and 2016.  In 2016, Chris ran his fastest half marathon time of 1:06:50, and a top 10 finish among the American men at the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler.  Chris was also 34th at the 2016 USA Half Marathon Championship held in Columbus, Ohio.  In 2017, Chris began racing for the Capital Area Runners, where he is currently coached by George Buckheit.  Chris' long term goals include a top 10 finish in a national championship, and a qualification for the 2020 Olympic Trials.  In 2014, Chris was nominated as one of DC's best running coaches.  You can read more about Chris on his blogging website that combines his coaching as well as his own training: www.chrissloanestraininglog.blogspot.com
